Wireless and Battery-Free Neuronal Stimulator

CDSI

-

Keywords: neural stimulator, piezoelectric component, ultrasound, retinal stimulation

The project aims to develop wireless and battery-free stimulators to support neural regeneration and circuit reformation following injury or degeneration. These stimulators will consist of a piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducer and a pair of microelectrodes, which can be positioned along a neural circuit. The stimulators will first be simulated and then experimentally characterized. Finally, the concept of wireless, battery-free stimulation will be validated using retinal explants.
