EMIR: Event-based Microbolometer for IR sensors adn ultra low power applications

SATT Linksium

In the field of infrared (IR) imaging, a large palette of applications exists such as occupancy sensors, intelligent building management,... Such applications often require an autonomous IR imager with energy harvesting devices (for isntance a photovoltaic cell) in order to avoid the use of a battery. To achieve autonomy, it is extremely important to decrease the energy consumption of IR imagers. Therefore, we are studying a frameless imager with a readout system similar to those developed in CMOS technology. The goal of the project is to develop an event-driven infrared imager able to exploit a microbolometer array.
