Resilient Trust- Trusted SMEs for Sustainable Growth of Europeans Economical Backbone to Strengthen the Digital Sovereignty

The Internet of Things (IoT) is promising as it drives the datafication of our daily lives and, therefore, exploits the synergies between things considered “dead” and enables them to proactively serve humans.
IoT leads to a high automation potential with which to improve the lives of billions of people and compensate for societal problems, such as an increasingly aging population, insufficient highly skilled labor in Europe or the limited efficiency of current production methods. IoT5.0, an Internet of Things assisted by Artificial Intelligence (AI), could benefit society even more, as devices could even learn to provide more value.
However, ubiquitous connectivity comes at a cost. Security levels must increase dramatically to ensure that a network remains safe for humans. This additional effort is often a burden for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) as the complexity and security required by such systems grows faster than available resources. This is especially dangerous as a single damaged device can lead to a user's entire network of connected devices being exploited. Accordingly, RESILIENT TRUST focuses on the end-to-end security of IoT processing chains, with a particular focus on exploitation for SMEs.
This goal will be achieved by developing specialized hardware to establish TRUST in a network and a wall of RESILIENCE against new attack methods, such as post-quantum attacks and Artificial Intelligence-based attacks.
The secure processing chain architecture will be carefully constructed after threat modeling, asset identification, risk analysis, security objectives and requirements definition.
Accordingly, RESILIENT TRUST will significantly address and mitigate these key risks to enable IoT5.0.
In this way, this project will be an engine for sustainable development and the generation of convenience and wealth.
A solution is proposed to ensure end-to-end security while increasing RESILIENCE and TRUST along several key IoT supply chains.
