Dr. Rafael GARIBOTTI - Associate Professor - PUCRS (Brazil),

Theme: Multicore Systems: From Principles to Challenges to Build Fault-Tolerant Architectures
Date: February 6th, 2020 - 15:00, TIMA Laboratory - Room T312

Rafael GARIBOTTI is an Associate Professor of the School of Technology at PUCRS, Brazil. He received a Ph.D. and MSc. Degree in Microelectronics, respectively from the University of Montpellier and EMSE, France and the BSc. Degree in Computer Engineering from PUCRS, Brazil. Former Postdoctoral Fellow at both Harvard University and UFRGS, Brazil. His research activity focuses on the programmability and reliability of multi/many-core systems and the design of parallel architectures, such as accelerators.

Recent integrated circuit technologies enable the integration of billions of transistors into a single chip, which allows the implementation of complex parallel systems, such as multicore systems. These systems are very close to physical limitations increasing the likelihood of manufacturing failures and failures during system operation. In this regard, it is essential to have a multicore fault-tolerant system. This talk addresses an overview of my research on multicore systems from programmability to reliability. In addition, this talk also details the collaboration project between PUCRS and TIMA to produce more resilient architectures.
