ABOUT THE LOCATION
In the year 50, a volcanic eruption annihilated the immense city Welsh-Roman TAUROENTUM creating a island, 7 hectares. In 1259, Sarrasins desolated the island and called it "Isola del bendoris" (The mountain's daughter's island). Bendor was born at this moment. In the 17th century, the Duc of La Cardière exiled his son on the island. He kindled fires on rocks and shipwrecked. He told "I've got a better precious stone than the King of France more «crown diamond»". In 1950, the island is deserted. Paul Ricard decided to give back life to this «precious stone». Since 1951, Ricard liquor with anis flavour is the third world consummated drink.
The Island is a very small island (7ha.) located in front of Bandol French Riviera coast close to Marseilles and Toulon. This island has kept all the attractive sides of small Provencal houses and luxuriant gardens where life is worth living (there are no cars).
The island will charm you with its peaceful environment and its many facilities. You'll find a foot path going round the island where you can see the port, then the shore. Going more into the center of the island, you will find many statues and a flower landscape with multicoloured houses and small provincial artisans.
Isle of Bendor is at 7 minutes by boat from Bandol port. The boat service is every 30 minutes from 7 am to 10 pm and every hour between 10 pm and 2 am. Taxi boats are available on demand
